PANEL 1:The sword begins to be carried away by the current.

PANEL 2:Alan notices and raises his head, his eyes wide as he stares at the water.

PANEL 3:He stretches out a hand, trying to reach it.

PANEL 4:He puts a hand to his mouth and begins to cough violently. He has managed to pull himself upright enough to crawl. The sword floats on the water and seems to be drifting farther away.

PANEL 5:Still crawling, Alan quickly extends an arm, not without difficulty.

PANEL 6:He falls to the ground with his arm still outstretched, managing to grab the sword by the hilt; but in the fall, his head hits a rock on the bank, causing an expression of profound pain that makes even his eyelids scrunch up.
