PANEL 1 and 2:In the forest, the flow of a river is shown, winding between trees and rocks. The sky displays a mixture of pink and violet tones, like patches of clouds, which stain the entire forest in these colors. It is indistinguishable whether it is day or night, but the forest is relatively dark under the treetops, and the river appears black, as in a dream.
PANEL 3:As if from the perspective of a bird in flight, an area of grass and rocks is shown on the bank of the stream, with a dry tree with bare branches near the water. In the center of the area lies Alan, face down on the ground, collapsed, his backpack still on and fallen to the side. A few centimeters away, his sword also lies on the ground.
PANEL 4:Alan's face is clearly badly beaten, with bruises and various scratches, as are his exposed arms. His shirt is wrinkled and all his clothes are wet, including his boots. The black river water begins to rise slowly and touches his legs, eventually reaching the sword at his side.
PANEL 5:Alan weakly opens one eye.
PANEL 6:He moves a hand shakily, almost without strength.
PANEL 7:The water reaches his thighs, which he also weakly tries to move. His jeans are ripped in slashes above the knee, and the skin underneath shows wounds that have stained the surrounding fabric with blood.
PANEL 8:The water covers the sword and begins to gently sway it.
