There are 6 panels.
PANEL 1: Gefrei continues: “He did everything within his reach to avoid being avoided, and his family adopted his characteristic antagonism”. In the image, Wade is walking through the town with a very unfriendly expression and a certain air of superiority. He is wearing a grayish t-shirt and an open shirt over it. A couple of silvery gray hairs are visible in his dark hair and beard. As he walks, he intentionally bumps his shoulder against that of a dark skinned man in a shirt who was walking in the opposite direction. The man turns around and looks at him, stunned.
PANEL 2: Fran says, intertwining her account with what was said before: “When they came they settled near the town, and they started… getting gradually closer and blending themselves more”.
PANEL 3: Fran continues: “Wade told us it was a military tactic, a slow kind of invasion”. In the image, Wade walks through the town's streets in the background, this time wearing different clothes: a turtleneck sweater, light colored pants, and leather boots. Meanwhile, several meters away, the silhouettes of other people talk and laugh, seemingly unaware of his presence.
PANEL 4: The narration continues: “We didn’t want any trouble”. The scene shifts to the blacksmith's house, specifically the kitchen and dining room, where Fran, Alan, and Wade are seated around the table, while Vince and Hector stand a few meters away in the kitchen. They all look at Wade attentively and with some concern.
PANEL 5: Fran continues: “But allowing them to step over us?”. The blacksmith is shown with one hand behind his neck and the other on his hip, looking to the side, troubled.
PANEL 6: She continues: “They aren’t from here”. Wade is leaning against the table, one hand on his head, frustrated and jaded in equal measure.
