It is daytime, the sky is slightly cloudy in a small maritime town. In the background, the sea in the distance, covered up by portions of the coast with wild grass growing on them. On one of those slopes, some small houses with gabled tile roofs. One of the closest houses shows that it is made of a wall of stones of irregular sizes. Closer, stands the blacksmith's house. It also has a tiled roof, and a wall made of wooden slats at the top, and large blocks of gray stone at the bottom. In the upper section there is a window with a wooden door open vertically. Under the window, a small pot containing beautiful flowers. From the other side of the wall protrudes a hanging metal sign, which has the figure of a hammer hitting an anvil fretted inside. In the middle of the wall is the open door, from whose opening leans out the blacksmith, dressed in a brown sweater with a triangle design in the center, and light pants. He bids farewell to Fran and Hector with a concerned look on his face. They are both around 12 years old, smiling, as they cheerfully descend a wooden staircase with a handrail that goes from the door to a cobblestone path. The house is barely elevated above the ground. Under the stairs, grass and some plants grow lushly. Fran, happy and winking one eye, waves goodbye by raising a hand. She is wearing a light sweater with a wide collar, and on top of it a dark jacket with a light colored sheepskin frill. Underneath, jeans and dark shoes. Ahead of her is Hector, who happily carries a large wicker basket hanging from one arm. With both hands he is buttoning up the front of his long, brownish coat. Underneath, he wears dark pants with high cuffs and leather shoes. The title Degaussing floats at the top of the image, and in the lower right corner the number 3.
